Irene Biju

Irene is a senior from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and she is double majoring in Computer Science and Public Policy. She is interested in both criminal justice reform and technology policy. On campus, she is involved in a variety of organizations, including serving as Co-President of the Asian Students Association, serving as a team captain on the Duke Mock Trial team, and being part of the “Mental Health and the Justice System in Durham County” Bass Connections research team. In her junior year, she studied neuroscience and criminology abroad at Oxford to further explore how incarceration and mental health are related. She has interned for various organizations, including the Office of Congresswoman Madeleine Dean and the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. After graduation, she hopes to attend law school and further explore the intersection of policy, technology, criminal justice, and the law.
