Aria Assil is a senior from Westlake Village, California pursuing a B.A. in Public Policy with minors in History and Political Science. Her academic interests lie within housing and economic policy and she is particularly interested in how historical context shapes contemporary inequality. Within the Sanford School, Aria has contributed to research examining the social impacts of low-income property tax relief in the Durham community. Through this research, Aria has been part of an effort to pioneer advancements in property tax relief policy while strengthening local homeownership for Durham residents. On campus, Aria serves as President of Delta Sigma Pi, where she is committed to cultivating an equitable and diverse community. She works to create a sense of belonging through mentorship and career development opportunities. Following graduation, Aria will begin her career at McKinsey & Company. She later plans to pursue her J.D., with the goal of working in property law and advancing equitable community development.
