Ben is a North Carolina native and graduate of North Carolina State University, where he majored in environmental engineering and minored in environmental science. Before Sanford, he worked with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality as an engineering project manager and managed initiatives on coal ash excavation, remediation, and solid waste management. Ben is a dual degree student between Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy and Fuqua’s School of Business. With his dual degree, Ben strives to balance the public sector’s policy and regulation and the private sector’s speed and innovation. He ultimately plans to pursue a career in renewable energy. Outside of his career aspirations, Ben’s hobbies include weightlifting, gardening, cooking and baking, and trying new restaurants throughout the Triangle.
