{"id":196,"date":"2020-09-25T17:01:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-25T17:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.sanford.duke.edu\/mppstudents\/?page_id=196"},"modified":"2023-11-13T16:04:23","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T16:04:23","slug":"policy-concentrations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.sanford.duke.edu\/mppstudents\/policy-concentrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Policy Concentrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/duke.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_0MWq88ol7g2J2ho\"><strong>Click <em>here <\/em>to complete a Policy Concentration Intent form.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.sanford.duke.edu\/mppstudents\/academic-advising\/\">Please visit this page <strong>for<\/strong> Concentration Faculty Advisors<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Concentrations<\/h2>\n<p>The MPP Program offers six policy-area concentrations that span domestic and global policy issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education policy<\/li>\n<li>Environment and energy policy<\/li>\n<li>Health policy<\/li>\n<li>International development policy<\/li>\n<li>National security and foreign policy<\/li>\n<li>Social policy<\/li>\n<li>Technology policy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To earn a policy concentration, a student must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete nine credits of coursework in the specified concentration (either one, three-credit foundations course plus six elective course credits, or, for concentrations without a designated foundations course, nine approved elective course credits)<\/li>\n<li>Complete of a summer internship related to the concentration<\/li>\n<li>Write a master\u2019s project in the concentration area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regardless of whether a student chooses to concentrate in a particular policy area, elective courses will play an important role in shaping the student\u2019s learning experience. MPP students may take elective courses within the Sanford School, in other departments and schools at Duke, and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, or North Carolina Central University.
