Addie Geitner is a senior from Hickory, North Carolina majoring in Economics and Public Policy. While at Duke, she has written about urbanism in small southern cities for a regional journal and worked on a Duke Bass Connections, researching proximity-based, relationship-building interventions as a tool for strengthening cross-partisan dialogue. Outside of class, she works on the production crew at the Duke Campus Farm and co-teaches the Urban Studies 101 house course. This past summer, she and a colleague were awarded a Project for Peace grant to run a farming, play, and science program for children in the Danish refugee system, exploring the role that civic spaces play in establishing community partnerships and improving child well-being. Within policy, she is interested in analyzing issues spatially and addressing them at the local level through non-/cross-partisan means.
