Post-Program Summary

Corporate Social Responsibility

A Duke University Executive Education Program

Post-Program Summary

Beginning on December 6, and concluding on December 14, 2021 Duke’s Sanford School launched an innovative Executive Education program in collaboration with the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Approximately 50 participants completed the seven day program delivered remotely, which focused on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Among the participants in the program were executives from corporations including Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, Kimberly-Clark, Disney Parks, Booz Allen Hamilton, Amazon Web Services, Capitol Broadcasting, State Farm Insurance, Black Hills Energy, Medtronic and Thomson Reuters. In addition there were participants from PBS North Carolina, Howard University, LISC and the US EPA.

The program focused on the critical issues connected to CSR, including finance and investment issues, diversity, equity and inclusion, climate change and environmental responsibility, corporate philanthropy, labor and supply chain practices, public  private partnerships and employee engagement. In addition there was a focus on metrics for performance, ranking and rating systems and key operational challenges. The curriculum included presentations from over a dozen of the leading practitioners in the field, from companies like IBM, JP Morgan, Carlyle, Fidelity, BlackRock, Madewell, Panasonic, Kyndryl and Ralph Lauren. The course also featured networking and collaboration opportunities for participants.

Participants who successfully completed the course received their Duke credentials and have been regularly posting decidedly positive feedback on a range of social media sites.

To follow up and chart the impact the course has made on registrants work, Duke’s Sanford School will be sponsoring a webinar in early March offering course registrants an opportunity to share the impact the course has made on their work
